REFLECTIONS

On campus, I am on the Presidential Ambassador team. I love working and interacting with people, especially students here on campus who are around my same age. It has been a great way to learn some awesome skills and grow in leadership. One thing that the ambassadors are in charge of is hosting events for high school students who are interested in attending SUU in the future. For my EDGE project, I decided to take the lead on planning and executing of one of these events. This was something that was very different from what I was used to, and it was a great chance for me to gain some leadership and organization skills. I am required to be at these types of events often, but have never been required to take control and plan my own, which is why I wanted to take this on as my project. I planned an overnight event for 200 high school students here on campus and put together all of the plans and activities for this event which included check in, a campus tour, attending an SUU gymnastics meet, dinner, sleeping arrangements, and open rec night. It was a huge success and I learned a lot from this experience. I am hoping that this experience will help me in the future after I graduate and try to find a career in recruitment or event planning. I hope to be able to plan similar events in the future.
